Hey Guys!
Every since I was very little I've been in love with food. From toying with tin cans full of grass and water in the yard before kindergarten to stalking my mom in the kitchen from an early age, I've given a good deal of my heart over to food and cooking. Ever since I can remember, some part of me has always been clamoring for new tastes and smells and textures and the small but incredible high of somebody appreciating something you've cooked.
Jamie Oliver has been one of my greatest inspirations. Many professional cooks (including his celebrity rivals) berate him for being a poor chef, and perhaps that's so. But what fascinates me about Jamie and his honest, warm approach to food, is the relationship I think I share with him regarding the kitchen and cooking in general. His giddy, boy-ish enthusiasm around food is something I know all to well; I admire him for his honest, simple approach to food and for his undaunted creative spirit and desire to change the world through food.
Cooking is an extremely creative activity. It makes the little wheels in my head turn faster and it gives my attention an almost unwavering dedication. I get very enthusiastic about preparing meals and researching new recipes.
Essentially, this blog is a testimony to my love for food, and a showcase of all things food-related that I find and like. You'll find here many recipes, videos and pictures - many of them taken from Jamie's work. He's much more charismatic than I could probably be and when it comes to teaching knife skills, talking about salad dressings or making fresh pasta I'd rather let him talk than mess it up in any way. I've learned many skills and tricks from him either way - so I think it's a fitting tribute to help transmit his message. I'll also share videos and websites from across the internet. Besides these, you'll find my own recipes and articles about pretty much anything related to my culinary world and the things I cook and learn.
Hope you end up enjoying this and maybe even trying out some of my recipes!
Love, Shay
